56 years after the war of India China war, villagers received compensation of Rs 38 crores

After 56 years of India-China war, villagers of Arunachal Pradesh got compensation of Rs 38 crores. During the India China war, the army used the land of this village to make its base, bunker and barracks. Union Minister of State for Home Kiran Rijiju and Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu distributed checks to villagers of Western Kamang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Rijiju said that – ” Total 37.73 crore rupees were given to the villagers. They were all community lands. Therefore, those who have received such a huge amount will be divided among the villagers. ”

Among those who received the check, Prem Dorjee Khirtha received Rs 6.31 crore. While Phuntsho Khwa got Rs 6.21 crore and A Khandu Glo got Rs 5.98 crore.

After the 1962 India-China war, the army had taken a large part of the land for its base, bunker, barracks, road construction, bridge construction etc. However, till last year no compensation was given to the villagers’ land. Union Home Minister Kiran Rijiju himself comes from Arunachal Pradesh. Rijiju persuaded the Ministry of Defense to pay these compensation.

Many villages have got compensation:

Rijiju said – ‘The army took the land for the sake of the country. But any government since 1962 did not take any initiative to compensate villagers of Arunachal Pradesh for their land. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that they finally compensated. Total checks worth Rs 37.73 crore have been given.

At the same time, in April 2017, 152 families of three villages of West Kameng district were given 54 crores. Prior to this, in September last year, after receiving the private land of the villagers, 158 crores was given. In February 2018, Rs. 40.80 crore was given to 31 families of Tawang district.
